Siauliai University

The home of Siauliai University is the city of Siauliai (“Saule” lith. = “Sun” eng.). Along with Lithuania’s growth and integration into the European Union, the city has been making a successful transition into a commercial centre. The name of Siauliai was mentioned in the chronicles of Livonian Order after Lithuanians defeated the army of crusaders during the “Sun battle” that took place near Siauliai on 23 September 1236. Siauliai is one of the major cultural centers in Lithuania. Professional art companies and single performers make the town famous. Both residents of Siauliai and visiting guests may sweep into the vortex of the intensive cultural life, which is full of original events. Each city has a beauty that defines and sets it apart, each has something special to offer: for someone living in Siauliai, it might be the scenery of Talksa lake you can take in as you go down Ezero street, a gentle shade of the walnut tree at the Drama Theatre building in the city centre or a soothing tinkling sound of crosses on the Hill as they sway with the breeze.

Istanbul is located in the centre of the Old World, with its estimated population of 15 million, Istanbul is one of the world's greatest cities famous for its historical monuments and magnificent scenic beauties. It is the only city in the world which spreads over two continents: it lies at a point where Asia and Europe are separated by a narrow strait - the Bosphorus. Istanbul has a history of over 2,500 years, and ever since its establishment on this strategic junction of lands and seas, the city has been a crucial trade centre.

Istanbul

The historic city of Istanbul is situated on a peninsula flanked on three sides by the Sea of Marmara, the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn. It has been the capital of three great empires, the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires, and for more than 1,600 years over 120 emperors and sultans ruled the world from here.
Nowadays, Istanbul remains the melting point between orient and occident and is by many considered to be the world’s hippest city.
